VILLA KUJOYAMA
Karl Mazlo's project at Villa Kujoyama in 2016, entitled "Reflections around the Haikus" aims to combine his jewelery know-how with Japanese craftsmanship.
To initiate collaborations, Karl Mazlo interviewed artisans during his stay in Kyoto to collect and transcribe the expressions of this poetic form in objects.
The starting point of this dialogue was the tools that Karl Mazlo had previously forged himself in Paris, especially so that the key to this first dialogue was built around their respective materials and sensibilities. These tools, used as stamps, are called upon to leave an imprint on wood, metal, raw earth or even paper.
